We often choose our own desires rather than the will of God. But there is a great danger in compromising and making excuses to not follow God's commands. My experience with choosing my own will rather than God's ended up in a messed up college life.
There are multiple reasons why people want to move on. Most of the time it's because of a recent heartbreak, a disappointment, or any painful experience. Some just simply wants to move on because of something they had done in the past which they want to forget. Others want to move on from the past sins they committed and wants to atone for a better life. Because of this, one might even ask, "How can I really move on?"
We often feel bitterness in our lives and most of the time we blame God for the things we suffer. Yet, He still loves us and is always willing to turn our bitterness into a sweet experience with Him, only if we let Him.
We often think that we need first to achieve perfection before we come to God for His grace. But the truth is we cannot, on our own, change ourselves. Change comes after we submit ourselves to our Savior.

When you cannot find the right motivation to do anything, maybe because God is compelling you to go back to Him and be with Him again. Every time you feel like turning away from God, ask yourself "To whom shall I go if I leave Christ?"
"Why do you believe so much in God?" "You cannot even see Him, smell Him, taste Him, touch Him, or hear Him." "Why would you ever believe on someone you cannot actually sense with your five senses?" These are some of the usual questions I hear from people who do not believe in God. To tell you, my dear friend, I actually do sense Him with my five senses.
If our life is like the sea and the storms of life started shaking our boats, how will we respond to it? Sometimes it is easier for us to trust God when the sea is calm, but true faith is revealed when the sea is no longer peaceful.
